Avola, an Italian municipality of 31.695 inhabitants in the province of Syracuse, Sicily.

Avola on a hexagonal map, overlooking the Ionian coast of Sicily in the Gulf of Noto.

The economy of the country is mainly linked to agricultural products and crops, fishing is marginal. The patisserie is renowned for its cultivation in the areas adjacent to the town of Noto of a particular variety of almond, the Mandorla Pizzuta d'Avola. Avola is also named after the famous wine, Nero d'Avola, whose origin is linked to the vines of the town and, although today is produced above all in other locations, makes Avola famous all over the world.
